Regional Red Cross Society, Kashmir in collaboration with District Red Cross Committee, Srinagar celebrated International Volunteers Day at DC Office Srinagar with the theme 'Volunteer Now For Our Common Future'.The programme was presided by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Pandurang K Pole who is also the Regional Chairman of Red Cross Society, Kashmir. Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Mohmmad Aijaz Asad who is Chairman District Red Cross Society, Srinagar and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Syed Hanief Balkhi were also present in the programme.The International Volunteers Day is celebrated across the globe to  recognize and appreciate volunteers of Red Cross Society for their selfless services for the betterment of humanity.Div Com kashmir in his address, congratulated the volunteers who have been continuously serving humanity from last four decades irrespective of colour, caste, creed or religion, in Kashmir. He said there is a need to build the capacity of volunteers so they could be more effective during natural calamities.

Meanwhile, several volunteers and participants projected their demands during the interaction with the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir. On the Occasion, Div Com directed the concerned officials of the regional Red Cross society kashmir to address the genuine issues & demands of the volunteers like issuance of special I-cards, membership drive, awareness camps in colleges, universities & schools besides appointment of volunteers in educational institutions for making the mission of Red Cross successful.Besides, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Mohmmad Aijaz Assad also spoke on the Occasion and highlighted the role of volunteers during natural calamities, accidents and other emergencies. He appreciated the volunteers for rendering services for the noble causes.Later, Div Com distributed sewing machines and blankets among the widows besides appreciation letters to the volunteers.Among others, Medical Officer, Red Cross Society Srinagar, Treasurer Red Cross Society, Chairman NGO,   Ali Asgar blood bank Care foundation J&K, volunteers and others participated in the International Volunteers Day programme.
