On the eve of International Day of Persons with Disability, Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) organized a special celebration event at Institute for the Blind 26, Chandigarh. Students presented colourful program to mark the occasion. The audience was thrilled to witness colourful and excellent performances of the students. The theme of the day was leadership and participation of person with disability towards inclusion accessible as well as sustainable post COVID world. 180 students participated in the program. The Chief Guest for the occasion Mrs. Harjinder Kaur, Chairperson, CCPCR, Chandigarh highlighted “The inner world is more beautiful and valuable and the specially-abled children should enhance their skills to be a part of this competitive era. They are equally an indispensable part of the society and this we can clearly see in this year’s theme which talks about Inclusiveness and participation of specially-abled children in mainstream.”
While speaking on the occasion, Mr. J.S. Jayara, Principal, Institute for Blind, Chandigarh highlighted “Specially-abled children must keep in their mind that where there is a will, there is a way and they should always move towards their aims despite of any kind of challenges. These children have full right to avail opportunities and also to be accessible to sustainable development.”tudents of the institute presented outstanding patriotic song and dance performances. On the Punjabi folk cores sung by children all the participants were mesmerised and joined by clapping along. Dr. Monica M. Dhawan, Senior Assistant, CCPCR, Mrs. Ankita, POCSO Consultant, CCPCR, Mr. Shehkar, Clerk, CCPCR, Mrs. Renu Mathur, Grief Counsellor, Women Police Station, Panchkula, staff of the institute attended this event.Vote of thanks was extended by Mr. B.D. Sharma, Secretary, Society for Care of the Blind, Chandigarh. Prizes were distributed by the CCPCR to honour the students who have secured 1st and second positions respectively for academic session 2020-2021 and to the participants.
