Strawberry plantation launched in District Kishtwar

To boost the horticulture sector  and double the income of farmers, the Department of Horticulture Kishtwar today launched a massive strawberry plantation drive in the district.  Chief Horticulture Officer Mushtaq Ahmed Wani   informed that the department has planned to bring maximum land area under fruit bearing strawberry Plantation in different zones of the district during this year under CAPEX Scheme.He further informed that financial assistance to the Tune of Rs. 13000 per Kanal area is being offered to the growers and the Farmers have to plan 3000 Plants/Runners in Mulch Sheet over well prepared beds for better production.He said that in view of the increasing production of Strawberry during the last few years, the department has introduced additional interventions like imparting of training to growers, providing them with the best variety of runners and financial assistance to further increase the cover area. He said the growers will be provided best marketing facilities to the farmers to fetch them maximum returns.
