The Director Horticulture Kashmir, G. R. Mir today spearheaded a comprehensive tour of Pulwama district, focusing on enhancing awareness and knowledge among orchardists and stakeholders in the horticulture sector.

The highlight of the tour was a mega awareness camp held at Litter Pulwama, which saw enthusiastic participation from various dignitaries, officers, officials, representatives of Farmers' Producer Organizations (FPOs) and a large number of orchardists.

The event served as a platform to disseminate crucial information about several Union Territory and centrally sponsored schemes, with special emphasis on key initiatives such as the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), High-Density Plantation Scheme, and Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH). These schemes are aimed at boosting the horticulture sector and ensuring sustainable growth.

The mega awareness camp included a technical guidance session led by experts from the department, addressing essential aspects of successful and profitable fruit cultivation. The session incorporated the latest technical interventions, providing farmers with valuable insights to enhance their horticultural practices.

In his address, Director Horticulture underscored the department's vision and ongoing initiatives, emphasizing the pivotal role of horticulture in driving the overall development of the region. He highlighted the immense potential for growth and sustainability within the sector, urging farmers to capitalize the available opportunities.

Later, a Joint Inspection Team (JIT) headed by Director Horticulture visited the Industrial Growth Centre (IGC) in Lassipora. The team, accompanied by key officials, inspected the newly established Controlled Atmosphere (CA) Store with a capacity of 5000 metric tons. This facility is poised to play a crucial role in preserving and enhancing the shelf life of harvested produce.
