The District Development Council (DDC) Chairman, M Y Gorsi Thursday reviewed the status of works being executed under District Capex plan by RDD, KPDCL, PHE, Irrigation and PMGSY in the district, besides he also took stock of winter preparedness measures.Vice Chairperson, DDC Anantnag and other Members of DDC were also present on the occasion.Reviewing the execution of 1925 works being undertaken by RDD under the District CAPEX plan, the DDC Chairman directed the officials to ensure allotment of all pending works by the end of this month.He said that the plans have been formulated as per people's wishes and works must be executed on ground to fulfill those wishes. He appreciated the department for the works that have already been executed.Gorsi also reviewed the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in the district. He was informed that 300 schemes have been put to tender and execution shall be completed as per projected timelines.He directed the senior officials from Jal Shakti department to complete all procurement activities and ensure supply of tap water to all households by August next year.

The Chairman DDC also directed officials from KPDCL to expedite procurement of material including Wires, Poles, Transformers so that electric works are completed before snowfall. He said that, as already directed by LG’s administration, the department must ensure that there are no unscheduled power cuts and strict compliance to the scheduled power curtailment. He also appealed to the people to avoid putting excessive loads during peak times. Gorsi also emphasized that there should be no laxity in snow clearance operations to avoid inconvenience to the public. He said that the concerned departments must be equipped to ensure time bound snow clearance operations.The Chair was informed that the R&B, PMGSY and Mechanical Division have already formulated a detailed snow clearance plan under the guidance of DC Anantnag and accordingly snow clearance control rooms are being established at divisional and sub divisional levels. Helpline numbers have already been circulated among the public for contact in case of emergencies.Further, modern machinery including LPTs, snow cats, 4x4 snow ploughs, Snow Cutters and Chain Dozers are on standby to meet any eventuality.The meeting was attended among others by ACP, Exns of PDD, PHE, PMGSY, RDD, R&B, Irrigation, Flood Control along with other engineering staff.
