Youth along with members of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Youth Akali Dal (YAD) held a massive protest here to demand the immediate arrest of Bhoa legislator Joginderpal for attacking and thrashing a scheduled caste youth who had asked him about his lack of performance.The youth along with members of the SAD and YAD held a protest outside the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) demanding a criminal case be registered against the Congress legislator. They also burnt an effigy of the MLA on the occasion.Pathankot YAD President Jaspreeet Singh Rana also asked chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi to take exemplary action against Joginderpal including seeking his resignation and suspending him from the Vidhan Sabha.
He said the chief minister should take decisive action in the matter or else it will seem that he is only indulging in photo-ops and has no intention of ensuring justice is meted out to the people of the State.Rana also announced that now every youth would ask Joginderpal what he had done for the constituency. ‘The Congress mla has tried to repress a SC youth who asked him what he had done. Now we will ask this question at every forum from him”. He also asked the Congress legislator to tell what he had done to eradicate the scourge of drugs in the constituency. How many youth had been given employment in the constituency and what development work had been undertaken by him?The youth activists also condemned home minister Sukhjinder Randhawa for not taking action against the legislator and instead terming the entire incident as a “small happening”. They said the youth would not give a befitting answer to the Congress party in the next assembly elections.
