Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer and Additional Director General of Police, Mukesh Singh today chaired a meeting of Revenue, Forest and police officers of Udhampur and Ramban Districts to address the dispute erupted over grazing land Ladha Dhar, here at Conference Hall DC Office Complex Udhampur.A dispute between two groups over grazing land at Ladha Dhar had come to the notice of the administration and keeping in view the seriousness of the issue, the Div Com convened the joint meeting to listen to the issues of both the disputing parties and know about the actual situation of the incidents which occurred recently over the grazing land falling in the jurisdiction of Ramban and Udhampur district.Chief Conservator of Forest, K Ramesh Kumar; DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range Mohammad Suleman Choudhary; DIG, DKR-Range Udhay Bhaskar;  Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Indu Kanwal Chib; Deputy Commissioner, Ramban Mussarat  Islam; SSP Udhampur, Shargun Shukla; SSP Ramban, P D Nitya; DFOs of Udhampur,Ramban and other senior  revenue officers of both the districts  attended the meeting.

At the outset, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur briefed the meeting about the dispute which has risen amongst the two communities over the grazing land. Panchayat Representatives ( DDCs, BDCs , sarpanchs and prominent persons of both the sides flagged their issues and also put forth their suggestion for amicable solution of the dispute.The DC & SSP Ramban have been closely monitoring the situation in Bilawat and other adjoining regions. After listening to both sides and officials, the Divisional Commissioner constituted a Committee headed by Chief Conservator of Forest, Jammu to sort out the issue among the tribal groups. It was decided that the Committee shall submit the report within the stipulated time frame by involving members of both sides.Underlining the importance of the decision taken by the present Government regarding the implementation of Forest Rights Acts  in UT, the Div Com stated that the initiative will go a long way to benefit the forest dweller nomadic population. The Divisional Commissioner Jammu appealed to both the communities to maintain peace and mutual brotherhood in the area. The Div Com also appreciated the efforts of the DCs and police Officers of twin districts for maintaining tranquility in the area.The ADGP assured both the communities that action shall be taken against the persons found involved in the breach of the peace and mutual brotherhood in the region.  He appealed to the members of both communities to abstain from creating any law and order situation.
