Signifying a major feat, 95.45% villages in Samba district have been connected with roads under the flagship road infrastructure development scheme –  Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojna(PMGSY). Under the scheme, a total road length of 224.72 KM has been constructed connecting almost all major habitations meeting the criteria set under the PMGSY, said Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta here at a virtual meeting chaired by Administrative Secretary Higher Education Department, Sushma Chauhan, convened to take stock of the developmental scenario of the border district and review achievements under key sector schemes. Briefing the meeting further, the DC said, at present 38222 households in the district avail tap water connections, while the district  Jal Shakti Mission plan has envisaged to connect all 58067 households by March 2022. She further informed that 96% of schools have drinking water facility, 99% have toilet facility and 99% have electricity connections.Under Ayushman Bharat scheme, she said, around 1.46 lakh beneficiaries have been verified, while 1138 have availed the benefits.

Regarding Covid management, she said the district has achieved 100% vaccination in 45+ age category, while 3 border villages have been fully adult vaccinated.Giving details about the status of PMDP projects, the DC said 3 sanctioned buildings of PHC Sumb, PHC Utterbheni and Additional block at District Hospital Samba have been completed.The Deputy Commissioner also gave a detailed presentation on development works carried out under other centrally sponsored schemes of NABARD, SBM, Social security schemes like Pensions, SAKSHAM, PM-KISAN, Mumkin Scheme, MGNREGA, PMAY-G, back to village programme, BADP besides others.The Secretary appreciated the achievements and progress attained in various government sponsored schemes. She laid emphasis upon the concerned functionaries to ensure that the benefits under government schemes reach to the last eligible beneficiary in the district. “The idea of door step governance can be achieved only if all the departments work collectively with a servitude outlook” she added. She also stressed on creating mass awareness about the Schemes for their effective implementation at the grassroots level.The Secretary asked to lay special focus on execution of B2V works, universalisation of Schemes under Social welfare dept and 100 % coverage under Ayushman Bharat/ Sehat. She also assured her support and mentorship for the district.
