Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma today inaugurated Oxygen Concentrator Bank set up by NGO Round Table India. He informed that in the first phase, the NGO has sourced 50 oxygen concentrators for Ludhiana residents, that would be provided totally free of cost to the residents for a period of one week.While speaking to media persons on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner thanked NGO Round Table India for setting up an Oxygen Concentrator Bank in this hour of crisis. He said that NGO has assured that 50 more oxygen concentrators would be added to this bank shortly.He said that these oxygen concentrators are of immense help for the patients in home isolation by providing life-saving gas to them. He said that these medical devices would help to reduce burden on the oxygen cylinders as the equipment concentrates oxygen from ambient air by capturing and filtering the air.Ayush Jain from Round Table India said that under Project Saah, the oxygen concentrators would be provided totally free of cost for a period of 7 days after taking a nominal refundable deposit of Rs 50,000. He said that the patient simply needs to call at phone number 78884-95654 (or whatsapp) and submit a Covid report, doctor’s prescription and an Aadhaar card.He informed that along with the oxygen concentrators, they are also providing BiPAP machines to the hospitals and four machines have already been provided to different hospitals in the district, including two such machines at Guru Teg Bahadur Charitable Hospital, one at USPC Jain Charitable Hospital and one would be provided to a hospital treating poor patients.

He informed that this entire project is done with the help of Punjab Kings XI and Dr Shubha Jain from California (USA). With Ludhiana witnesses an unabated surge in the Covid cases and demand for oxygen has peaked, the Red Cross Society has also started an oxygen concentrator bank for the patients requiring the support of life-saving gas in home isolation. He said that home isolated Covid patient can take the oxygen concentrator from the District Red Cross Society’s oxygen concentrator bank on mandatory doctor's prescription and guarantee of device's functioning under his supervision. He said that the oxygen concentrator applicant has to pay a minimal daily rent of Rs 200 to the administration and submit refundable security of Rs 25000 (either draft or cheque) to the Red Cross Society.He added that concentrator seeker has to submit an online google form on www.Ludhiana.nic.in and the applicant would be informed on the phone once the application is accepted within 12-hours. The applicant can procure the concentrator from Red Cross society from 9 am to 5 pm, he said and added that the decision has been taken on the recommendation of the seven-member committee of doctors. He said that the applicant can also contact 94173-76655, 98784-50219 and 81465-55493.Prominent among those present on the occasion included Karan Agarwal, Sahil Agarwal, Vipin Singhal, Saurabh Chandra, Dr Tushar Ahuja, Manu Bhaskar, Pankaj Jain, Angad Singh, Nischay Lamba, besides several others.
