Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Ludhiana Member of Parliament (MP) Ravneet Singh Bittu on Wednesday visited the newly 50-bedded Covid care centre set up at Jawaddi Community Health Centre to take stock of the arrangements.Accompanied by MC Councillors Mamta Ashu and Dilraj Singh, SDM Amrinder Singh Malhi the concerned staff in the centre apprised the minister and MP of top-class facilities being ensured here amidst a devastating surge in Covid-19 cases in the district.They also interacted with the doctors, nursing staff and others and lauded them for their selfless service to humanity in this hour of crisis.Expressing utmost satisfaction, they said that the district administration and officials are working tirelessly to augment health infrastructure to deal with the spike in the Covid cases. They added that 50 oxygenated beds have been set up here and this has been functioning as a level-II Covid treatment centre.

Appealing to the people to not be complacent in any way about guidelines of Punjab Government and health department, Cabinet Minister said that we must strictly adhere to Covid appropriate behaviour as the first line of defence against the infectious disease. They asked the people to motivate each other for masking, maintaining physical distancing and follow hand hygiene.He said that the teams of civil and police administration are working day and night to ensure the safety of the people from the pandemic and the public must support them in this battle. He told there is no dearth of oxygen, remdesivir and other vital drugs and would not tolerate hoarding of the essentials by anyone.Meanwhile, MP Ravneet Singh Bittu said that there was absolutely no need of any panic, and said Punjab Government was better prepared to deal pandemic and pulling out all stops to tackle the second wave.He said that the Corona Virus had emerged as a major global threat adding that prevention was the only way to keep this contagion at a bay. He also appealed to people to stay indoors to break the chain of transmission chain and follow to Covid appropriate behaviour.
