In view of the increasing cases of Coronavirus infection across the district, the Civil Surgeon Dr. Adarshpal Kaur again appealed to the people not to panic over this deadly disease but to take all necessary precautions. She said that one of the main reasons for the rapid increase in cases is that many people are totally ignoring the basic guidelines and that they visit hospitals only when the condition worsens. She asked people to get tested even if mild symptoms of the disease appear. Dr. Adarshpal said, “There is an urgent need to strictly follow the necessary precautions.'' She reiterated that all the necessary arrangements have already been put in place and the health department has been working untiringly from day one to curb the spread of the disease. She also said that even if a COVID patient has no symptoms of the disease, he or she needs to stay isolated and exercise utmost caution as they can easily infect someone else.

She said that all the not-so-important works should be postponed in view of the pandemic. The civil surgeon asserted that in places like markets, some people are walking around without covering their faces or some wearing masks in an improper way, which is detrimental for their own health and safety. She again appealed to the people to not step out of homes aimlessly and if there is an urgent need to move out, the face should be covered with masks and necessary distance from each other should be maintained. It is also important to wash hands frequently with soap and water.Dr Adarshpal asked people to do online transactions to pay for water, electricity, insurance, mobile, cylinder refill and other bills, instead of going to the market and offices for the same. She said that shops should not be crowded with customers and social distance should be maintained in all circumstances. Hands should be washed when entering and leaving the store. 'People should contact the health department's helpline no.104 for the expert advice," said she.
