Sepoy Amardeep Singh from Regiment 21 Punjab was cremated with full honours at his village Karamgarh in district Barnala today on attaining martyrdom at Siachen.Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr Tej Partap Singh Phoolka and SDM Barnala Mr Varjeet Walia attended the cremation ceremony. Deputy Director Monitoring Defence Services Welfare Punjab Col (retd) Jarnail Singh, Superintendent District Defence Welfare Services Barnala Ravinder Singh, Naib Subedar Sukhdev Singh from 21 Punjab Regiment and Jagdeep Singh clerk with Barnala dept were also present. Amardeep’s father Manjeet Singh was also present.Deputy Commissioner Mr Tej Partap Singh Phoolka said that aged 23 years Sepoy Amardeep Singh has brought pride to the region. He asked others to emulate the path laid by Sepoy Amandeep Singh. He said that as per the government rules, martyr’s family will get Rs 50 lakhs ex-gratia and job to next of the kin.Amardeep Singh was commissioned into army on 22 December 2018. He passed away at Siachen on 25 April.
