Fateh Jung Singh Bajwa General Secretary PPCC today accused Punjab Chief Minister Mr.Parkash Singh Badal of misleading the Vidhan Sabha on the issue of ‘martyrs' memorial’ set up in the Golden Temple complex at Amritsar. In a statement issued here Mr. Bajwa asked Mr.Badal to stand by his statement on the floor of house that the memorial in the memory of Operation Blue Star will be a simple Gurdawara and no photographs of any inpidual would be displayed there. He said that Congress was keeping an eye on the developments related to martyr’s memorial and if need be will approach center government to take appropriate steps.Mr. Bajwa said that Congress was worried over deteriorating law and order situation in Punjab and nobody will be allowed to disturb the peace of state.

He said that Congress was aware of consequences of eulogizing the separatist elements.Mr.Bajwa further said that controversy over martyrs’ memorial had also exposed the double standards of Badal. He said that on June 20, he had assured the Vidhan Sabha that no portrait will be displayed in the memorial and it will come up as a small Gurdawara inside the complex. He said that Mr.Badal shall clarify his position on the issue. He also blamed BJP for keeping silence over this important issue.Mr.Bajwa said that Mr.Badal had misguided the youth in early 80s and pushed Punjab into turmoil. He said that foreign powers tried to destabilize the country by exploiting sentiments of Sikh youth. He said that it was responsibility of Punjab Government to maintain law and order in the state.Mr. Bajwa said that PPCC under the command of Mr.Partap Singh Bajwa had put the SAD-BJP government on mat over the issue of wealth tax on agriculture land. He said that SAD-BJP government has failed on all fronts. He stated that to pert the attention of people from its failures the SAD is building an atmosphere of confrontation and encouraging radical elements.Mr.Bajwa said that SAD had lost its credibility among the people and it has no right to continue in government.
