With the dedicated efforts of Punjab school education and PWD minister Vijay Inder Singla, the councillors of Bhawanigarh Municipal Committee unanimously elected Sukhjit Kaur Ghabdia as president and Monica Mittal as Vice president. Both the elected councillors also assumed their charge in the presence of the cabinet minister here at the MC office.President Sukhjit Kaur, wife of senior Congress leader Balwinder Singh Ghabdia, has contested successful election from ward number 7 and Monika Mittal, wife of Congress leader Varinder Mittal, has won election from ward number 13.While addressing the gathering on the occasion, Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that it was the result of development carried out by their government and also the hard work of their dedicated workers. He added that now it has become his moral responsibility to ensure the overall development of Bhawanigarh city and no stone will be left unturned for the facelift of the city. He said that every household in the city will be connected to potable water and sewerage pipeline and immediately after completion of these works, roads and streets will be repaired. He said that the previous government released dug out city roads for laying sewerage pipelines without releasing adequate funds for its completion which added to the woes of city residents.Mr. Singla said that after assuming the government, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has ensured the availability of funds for the completion of development projects in the state. He added that apart from ensuring development projects, their government has also initiated several works for the beautification of Bhawanigarh.On this occasion, SDM Bhawanigarh Dr. Karamjit Singh, Chairman Block Samiti Varinder Panwa, Chairman Market Committee Pardeep Kadh, Vice Chairman Hari Singh, Ranjit Toor, Jagtar Namada, President Mahesh Verma, Jagmeet Bhola Balial, Mahesh Majhi, Jeewan Sarpanch, apart from elected councillors and Congress workers, were also present.
