Promoting cultural diversity, LPU has signed an MoU with Alliance Française Chandigarh (AFC) to impart French Language and Culture at its campus. Recognized by the French Embassy in India, Alliance Française de Chandigarh has played a pioneering role in promoting French culture since its inception in the region. It is also important to note that French Embassy in India has already established the prestigious ‘E-space France Centre’ at LPU campus in 2019. Moreover, LPU is India’s first university to host this ‘Centre’ for French studies at its campus. On this occasion, Director Ophélie Belin of AFC and LPU Registrar Dr Monica Gulati signed the MoU, in the elite presence of Additional Director at Division of International Affairs at LPU Mr Aman Mittal, HoS Social Sciences & Languages Dr PP Singh and Deputy Director Supriya Mathew. Prior to this, Ms Ophélie Belin was accorded traditional Punjabi welcome on her reaching the ‘Centre’.Expressing her happiness on the important collaboration with LPU, Ms Ophélie shared: “There are a lot of projects in mind to work upon together with LPU, despite being bound by the present difficult situation of pandemic.

For us, LPU is indeed a great institution of India.” Mr Aman Mittal assured her full support in all future endeavours slated together as per MoU. It was also shared why one should learn French language and culture. It was informed that it has a worldwide network; important for necessary studies in France; careers; tourism; culture learning; science knowledge, social life, and sports. In fact, learning French is to communicate and exchange culture with people across the globe and to be part of a great and large community.Illustrative, as a part of the Alliance Française network world over, it strives to bring the dissimilar, yet similar cultures of India and France. Alliance Française de Chandigarh provides French courses, official French exams (recognized by the French Ministry of Education), library, cultural activities, Campus France desk for students who aspire for higher studies in France, translations, and any advice related to French speaking countries. Noteworthy, LPU is already providing courses in French language, and more than 400 LPU students have availed this opportunity.
