Punjab School Education and PWD minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh will ensure hassle free procurement during this wheat procurement season as crops were being procured and lifted in the earlier seasons during the tenure of Congress government. Mr. Singla added that their government was also committed to protect the interests of farmers, arhtiyas and labourers. Mr. Vijay Inder Singla was here to formally inaugurate the wheat procurement process in Sangrur district from local grain market.The Cabinet Minister said that to ensure smooth procurement of wheat in Sangrur, he has been holding meetings with the administrative officers and procurement agencies for the last one month and on his instructions supervising officers have also been posted in every mandi to resolve the issues as soon as possible. He said that Sangrur district was likely to receive 12.25 lakh metric tonnes of wheat for which arrangement of bardana (gunny bags), timely lifting and payment would also be ensured. Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that Punjab government would take a firm stand against the wrong decisions of Modi government on every front. He said that Modi government was trying to end the pious relationship of farmers and arhtiyas in Punjab by implementing direct payment of crops but our government would ensure protection of the interests of all sections of the people of the state. He said that Punjab government would also release Rs. 131 crore which was kept on hold by the Modi Government and the amount would be transferred soon in the accounts of arhtiyas.Mr. Singla said that the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh has always shown keen interest for the smooth procurement process, be it from 2002 to 2007 or from 2017 to date.  He said that even during Covid-19 Pandemic, Punjab government had been carried out last two crop seasons of procurement arrangements of mandis very smoothly.The Cabinet Minister said that all the arrangements have been made by the Punjab government for the procurement process of the crops and no difficulty would be allowed to any party involved in this process.  He said that arrangements have also been made to prevent COVID-19 in the mandis.  He said that soap, water and sanitizer have also been provided to clean the hands of the people entering the mandi. Mr. Singla appealed to the farmers to bring only fully ripen wheat in the mandis as per the norms of the government so that their crop could be procured soon. He also directed the administrative officials that the instructions of government and health department regarding COVID -19 should also be followed. Prominent amongst others who were also present on the occasion included Deputy Commissioner Shri Ramvir, Chairperson Geeta Sharma, Chairman Market Committee Sangrur Anil Kumar Ghicha, SDM  Yash Pal Sharma, Vijay Gupta, Binder Bansal, President Karamjit Singh and the Ranjit Toor.
