To contain the spread of covid with speedy vaccination, kapurthala district has shown the way by touching nearly 4500 mark in single day as all civil hospitals, Sub division hospitals, all Primary health centres, 42 health wellness centres witnessed peoples large scale turn out for vaccination. Presently 83 session sites are working for covid vaccination in district. On april 8, 4174 senior citizens were vaccinated.Deputy commissioner kapurthala Deepti Uppal said that special teams have been deputed at market committee offices at 5 places in district to cater farmers, labourers etc for upcoming wheat procurement season. Besides that in kapurthala and Phagwara cities also witnessed special camps at various places to facilitate the senior citizens.MLA Rana Gurjit singh who today visited the vaccination camp at local Municipal corporation office to urge the people to come farward for vaccination, said that Punjab Government is providing free vaccination to all at Government hospitals and people must avail benefit of that.He also said that the he alongwith his family members took the vaccination Jab and the senior citizens must come forward for vaccination as it has no harm effect on human body.Deputy commissioner who herself reviews the vaccination drive on daily basis said that the with the concrete efforts of district administration, the senior citizens turns in large no for vaccination as from april 1st to till 8th , 26836 thousand senior citizens vaccinated making daily average nearly 4000.She said that in next two days the district will saw a sharp increase as mobile vaccination units would also be roped in besides enhancing outreach sites in villages.It may be mentioned here that people with comorbid conditions, who were on high risk were given special attention as 3970 people have been vaccinated in this category.
