Giving a fillip to the existing healthcare infrastructure in the district, as many as 38 health and wellness centers were inaugurated today. Participating in a virtual launch event at the district administrative complex, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori and Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Sandeep Garg said that these health & wellness centers would transform the entire scenario of healthcare services in the district. They said that the government has upgraded existing sub health centers and wellness centers into ultra-modern health & wellness centers. These centers are equipped with latest techniques such as robust medicine supply line system and tale-consultancy facilities, he added. 

These new 38 centers located at Jajjan Khurd, Kot Grewal, Turan, Bharsingpur, Begampur, Khaira Majha, Ramewal, Sagarpur, Jeitewali, Manakrai, Jaijian Kalan, Rurki, Suner Kalan, Gohawar, Boparai, Sang Dhesian, Mahal, Athola, Barha Pind, Kala Bahian, Khusropur, Fatehjalal, Bulnda, Meshampur, Bath, Bjuha Khurd, Kang Sabhu, Mehuwal, Fatehpur Bhahwan, Kangna, Ktoligajran, Talwandi Sangera, Poonian, Bhamnian, Bagga, and Sanaura villages.Divulging more, the deputy commissioner and SSP said that the centers would be extending facilities like care in pregnancy and childbirth, Neonatal and infant health care services, family planning, contraceptive services, management of communicable diseases, OPD services, screening, prevention, control and management of non-communicable diseases, basic oral health care, emergency medical health care services, screening, and basic management of mental health ailments.Speaking on the occasion a beneficiary Kashmir Kaur said the health and wellness center has brought a sense of ease in her life as earlier she had to visit the city for routine checkup and now she has been getting treated at one of these health & wellness centers. She added that apart from routine healthcare services, the center provides a lot of wellness activities including Yoga. She lauded the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led state government for transforming health infrastructure across Punjab. Pointing out further Civil Surgeon Dr. Balwant Singh said that the centers would be offering Covid-19 vaccination facilities from April 1, 2021 besides other healthcare facilities. These centers are equipped with requisite machinery and community healthcare officers, Asha workers and other paramedic besides tale-consultancy services.Meanwhile, the newly constructed Bilga Thana was also inaugurated during the event, which is equipped with ultramodern facilities. SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg stated the new police station constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.6 Crore and would cover around 15 Kilometers of area falling within its jurisdiction along with a population of 25,000 and a total of 44 villages. The new three-storey building houses a waiting lounge, IO cabins, staff barracks, washroom, wireless room, a mess, barrack for GO rank officers, etc., which would provide new experiences to visitors.Prominent among others present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Jasbir Singh, Assistant Commissioner (G) Hardeep Singh, and other officials.
