Kapurthala Police Busts Interstate Gang Involved In Smuggling Of Drugs In State

On the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police, Kapurthala Mrs Kanwardeep Kaur IPS and under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhulath Mr. Ajay Gandhi, IPS a special drive was launched against the drug smuggling in the area. On December 14, 2020, District Police got huge success when a Police party led by Station House Officer Amanpreet Kaur and Sub Inspector Baldev Singh during Nakabandi at the bridge on Bein, got an information that a consignment of poppy husk was being smuggled into state from J&K in a truck bearing number JK-18-4520.As per the tip off Police party intercepted the truck and apprehended two members of the gang, the truck driver and his accomplice.  The accused have been identified as Sohail Ahmed Baade  s/o Bashar  ahmed Baade r/ o Mandojan Shopian and Sukha s/o Amreek Singh r/o Bhadas, Police Station Bholath.250 Kg of Poppy Husk stored in 10 plastic bags was recovered and truck was impounded. An FIR No 95 dated 14-12-2020 u/s 15C-61-85 NDPS Act Police Station Bholath has been registered. Efforts are on to arrest a third accomplice as revealed in the interrogations of the arrested accused. Further investigation is on.
