Ambassador of USA calls on Governor

Kenneth I. Juster, Ambassador of United States of America to India called on Governor Bandaru Dattatraya in Raj Bhavan on Friday and discussed cultural ties and development of tourism sector in the state.Shri Dattatraya said India shares a vibrant and a century-old relationship with America. He said that a big number of students from Hyderabad and Telangana have settled in different states of America and were working in pharma and information technology sectors.They also discussed strengthening cooperation in tourism and creating more avenues for education sector in the US, for students from the state. He shared with the Ambassador the developments in the field of tourism and education sectors, besides strategic issues of border areas of Himachal with China. He said that India is well prepared under the leadership of Prime Minister Narender Modi.He said that Himachal is a tourism state and every year millions of tourists visit the state.  He mentioned that last year about 1.71 crore tourists visited  the state, out of which about 1.68 crores were Indians and about 3.82 lakh foreigners came here. About 6.63 percent growth has been registered in 2019 against the year 2018. “If the cultural relations in both the countries remain strong like this, then the development process would strengthen”, said the Governor.The Governor also honoured him by presenting Himachali cap, shawl and portrait of Raj Bhavan.The Ambassador thanked the Governor for sparing time for the meeting and said that it was his first trip to Shimla. He felt that the environment in the State was quite positive and said that he has also visited Apple orchards in Shimla surroundings. He also invited the Governor to visit the USA. He also thanked Himachal for its principled generosity in hosting His Holiness Dalai Lama.Rakesh Kanwar, Secretary to Governor was also present on the occasion.
