Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested seven persons for kidnapping a city doctor for Rs 10 crore ransom.Hours after the doctor was rescued by police in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district, Cyberabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar announced the arrest of seven accused while six others, including the main accused, a relative of the doctor, are absconding.Behjat Hussain, a 56-year-old dentist, was kidnapped from his clinic in Kismpatpur under the limits of Rajendranagar police station on Tuesday. He was rescued by the police at Anantapur early on Wednesday when a four-member team of abductors was taking him to Bengaluru in a car. While one abductor was arrested, the remaining managed to escape.Sajjanar said the police cracked the case within 12 hours with the cooperation by their counterparts from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra.According to police, main accused Musthafa, who is a relative of the victim's wife, had returned from Australia after incurring huge losses and started real estate business in Hyderabad and Pune. He, along with Mubashir Ahmed alias Khaled, who was his business partner in Australia, hatched a plan to kidnap the doctor for a ransom to make easy money.Mubashir, through Musthafa, took a flat on rent from the doctor at Bandlaguda and kept a close watch on the movements of the victim through housekeeper Mohammed Raheem.

They joined hands with Ganesh alias Guniya of Pune, and through him, hired other accused Sumit Chandrakanth Bhosale, Akshay Balu Vairekar and Vicky Datta Shinde, all residents of Pune. The main accused also joined hands with Imran and his brother Irfan who hail from Kukatpally in Hyderabad. They formed two separate teams for execution of their plan, one for abduction of the victim and the other 'escort team' headed by Puneet of Udupi in Karnataka. His team comprised Sanjay, Siri and Prithvi, who all hail from Udupi. The job of the second team was to shift the abducted victim to the safe location in Karnataka till they receive the ransom from the family. On the basis of information provided by Raheem, Sumit, Akshay, Vicky and Salman, wearing burkas, barged into clinic, threatened the doctor and technician with toy pistols, and tied the technician's hands and mouth. They took the victim to Yellamma Banda of Kukatpally where they kept him till late night and sent a voice message to the family members demanding the huge ransom. They threatened to kill the victim's wife, father and kids if the required amount is not paid within 48 hours. After late night as per their plan, they handed over him to Karnataka team who took him and proceeded towards Bengaluru - but were intercepted by the police. The police seized three cars, seven cell phones, toy pistols and other material used in the commission of offence.Cyberabad police had formed 12 teams, which acted quickly on the leads and made the arrests. The Police Commissioner praised the work of the police personnel and rewarded them.
