The Health & Labour Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said that free treatment facilities of Rs. 8.29 crore has been provided to the people of Fazilka district under Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna, so far this year.Presiding over the meeting of District Grievance Redressal Committee, Abohar here today, Balbir Singh Sidhu said that Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojna has proved to be very beneficial for the people of Punjab under which cashless treatment up to Rs. 5 lakh provided to the eligible families. He said that as many as 1,91,091 families are registered under this scheme in the Fazilka district. Out of these 5019 people got treatment services from government health institutions and 4186 people from private health institutions.He said that ration card holder families, small traders, farmers, construction workers and journalists are covered under this health insurance scheme.Mr. Sidhu also instructed the labour department to register the construction workers under this insurance scheme in the district as much as possible. He said that the board has various schemes for the welfare of the construction workers which facilitates benefits only to the registered workers. 

The Minister further said that  Chief Minister Punjab Capt. Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government had provided financial assistance of Rs. 190 crore to 3.18 lakh construction workers of the state during the lockdownReferring to the Smart Ration Card Scheme, the Health Minister said that 1.55 lakh families in Fazilka district would get the benefit of this scheme. He said that 30,000 smart cards have been received so far. He directed the authorities to expedite the process of issuing the remaining cards and distribute these cards to the beneficiaries within 10 days. He said that now the beneficiaries would be able to get wheat from any depot in Punjab.Mr. Sidhu directed the officers of concerned departments to expeditiously complete the pending development works of the city. He said that under the Chokho Abohar project the city would be given a new look.The Mandi Board officials informed the meeting that 881 km of link roads have been repaired in the district this year. Mr. Sidhu directed the concerned departments to expedite the work regarding the drainage of water in the rain-affected villages and also to take appropriate action to check the spread of seasonal diseases in the villages.Mr. Davinder Singh Ghubaya MLA  Fazilka, Mr. Raminder Awalan MLA  Jalalabad, Mr. Arvind Pal Singh Sandhu Deputy Commissioner of the district, Mr. S.S.P. Mr. Harjit Singh, Mr. Sandeep Jakhar, Acting District Congress President Mr. Ranjam Kamra, Mr. Deepak Kumar, Former Minister Mr. Hans Raj Joshan, Chairman Mr. Sukhwant Singh Brar, Youth Congress President Mr. Ruby Gill, Mr. BD Kalra, A.D. Was. Development Mr. Naval Kumar, SDM Mr. Suba Singh, Assistant Commissioner General Mr. Kanwarjit Singh etc. were also present in the meeting.
