Awareness cum sensitization programme of horticulture sector held at Anantnag

An Awareness cum sensitization programme for newly proposed Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) was today held here.The programme was organised to promote sustainable and equitable horticulture and rural prosperity through effective credit support, related services, institution development and other initiatives by NABARD in coordination with District Administration.The District Development Commissioner,  Anantnag, K.K. Sidha interacted with farmers and apprised the  farmers about the concept of Form producer organization(FPO) to enable the farmers to sell their produce as per their will and avoid middleman ship or broker interference.He assured every possible support to the farmers for establishment of FPOs in the horticulture sector.The DDM NABARD, Rouf Ahmad highlighted the objective of the said programme and stressed upon the farmers for setting up of FPO’s to increase their produce and to sell their produce at reasonable rates.He informed the farmers that Government of India has recently launched the scheme for providing financial assistance and training to the farming community for establishment of FPO’s.The DDM sought cooperation from the Department of Horticulture and orchardists   in forming FPO’s with 100 person membership in each FPO in the said sectors.A large number of orchardists related with different horticulture activities attended the programme.
