Pasteurized compost for Mushroom distributed among DCTC’S

Director Agriculture Kashmir, Altaf Aijaz Andrabi today kick started the distribution of pasteurised compost at Integrated Mushroom Development Centre (IMDC) among the Demonstration Cum Training Centre’s (DCTC’s) and interested mushroom growers of valley.The Director said that the Mushroom sector is being taken as priority sector by the Department, as it can generate additional income to the Mushroom Growers.He said the department is committed to give all sorts of technical as well as financial assistance to the interested mushroom growers and entrepreneurs.Andrabi said that Mushroom cultivation is a cottage industry which can generate additional income to the small as well as marginal farmers. Project coordinator mushrooms Farooq Ahmad Shah said that   Pasteurized compost has been prepared in the centre under scientific and highly technical guidance and is ready for distribution to all the districts of the valley where it will be distributed to Mushroom Growers in three cycles during the current autumn season.He further added that mushroom cultivation is not only income generating industry but beneficial for the consumers as a whole because it has a high medicinal value and is beneficial for control of different diseases like diabetes, heart ailments besides it increases haemoglobin in the body.
