76,381 volunteers of Youth Services raising awareness against corona every fortnight : Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi

To contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, 76,381 volunteers of Youth Services Department are sensitizing people of villages and towns every fortnight about the precautionary measures against the deadly disease. During this campaign, these volunteers recently covered 5503 villages and towns of the state.Divulging further here today, Sports and Youth Services Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi informed that all the district offices of the department, NSS Units, Red Ribbon Clubs, College/School Youth Clubs and Rural Youth Clubs affiliated to the department are making exemplary contribution for the prevention of COVID-19. The volunteers of the 1585 NSS units of 18 universities, 642 colleges and 572 senior secondary schools, 600 red ribbon clubs of colleges, 100 college/school youth clubs and 13,857 rural youth clubs, affiliated to the department, are conducting door-to-door campaign every fortnight to create awareness among the locals.Rana Sodhi said, as part of the recent awareness campaign, door-to-door visits were made to villages, urban areas and towns in all the 22 districts of the state. Meanwhile, 76,381 volunteers of 3402 youth clubs, NSS Units and Red Ribbon Clubs covered 5503 villages and towns and sensitized people about social distancing, leaving home for urgent work only, wear safety gloves and masks, wash their hands frequently, visit nearby hospital immediately after finding Corona symptoms to break the chain of Corona epidemic. They  were also urged to download the COVA mobile app.Complying fully with the social distancing protocol, youth clubs also organized blood donation camps through mobile buses besides planting saplings. In addition, volunteers are making posters and banners to prevent COVID-19 and erected them in villages, towns and cities.The Youth Services Minister said that all the Assistant Directors of the department have been directed to hold regular online meetings with the Program Officers (NSS), Nodal Officers of Red Ribbon Clubs and Youth Clubs of all the Colleges to chalk out future programs and continue this campaign following the government guidelines on COVID-19.
