The District Development Commissioners of Pulwama and Shopian today convened separate meetings to review the preparedness for smooth conduct of Independence Day Celebrations in their respective districts.The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langar held a thorough discussion regarding the seating arrangements as per Covid-19 protocol, presentation of cultural programmes, parade, security arrangement and award presentation.It was given out in the meeting that the main function will be held at District Police Lines Pulwama, followed by march past comprising the contingents of CRPF, JKP, JKAP, Fire and Emergency Services and Forest Protection Forces.The DDC directed the officials to ensure adequate security arrangements, illumination of Govt Buildings, parking facilities and proper seating arrangements at the venue besides ensuring uninterrupted power and water supply.He also directed the Health department to set up an adequate number of medical camps with proper staff, ambulance and Medicare facilities at the venues besides the officials of Municipal Corporation were directed to maintain cleanliness in and around District Police Lines, roads, and streets in the town.It was also decided that the celebration of Independence Day shall also be held at Sub-Divisional Levels, and in this regard Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Awantipora and Tral were directed to ensure celebration of the event at their respective headquarters and shall take necessary steps in order to make the Programme successful.Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama,Tral and Awantipora, Chief Education Officer, Executive Engineers of R&B, PHE, PDD besides all District and Sectoral Officers and other concerned were present at the meeting.In a separate meeting, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Choudhary Mohammad Yasin finalized the arrangements for the smooth celebration of Independence Day 2020.During the meeting threadbare discussion was held to ensure foolproof security arrangements, playing of Shahnai wadan, salute by March past, contingents of CRPF, Armed Police, JKPP and Fire Services.Other arrangements including drinking water facility, medical facility, uninterrupted power supply, and seating arrangements with proper social distancing in view of COVID-19 pandemic were also discussed in the meeting.The DDC directed the officers to put in place all the necessary arrangements well in advance and coordinate with each other for the smooth functioning of Independence Day function.It was also decided that a full dress rehearsal shall be held on August 13th 2020 at DPL Shopian.Among others the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Joint Director Planning, and others concerned officers and engineers besides civil and police officers.
