District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad today formally inaugurated the Municipal Council Bandipora after it was upgraded from the erstwhile Municipal Committee by government.On the occasion, the DDC congratulated the people of the town for the upgradation of municipal body and said that the new Council will pave way for resolving the urban issues locally including sanitation, drainage besides others.The Deputy Commissioner also handed over three vehicles of Hooper's and loader's for Municipal Council costing over Rs 25 lakh procured under 14th FC for collection of garbage in the town Bandipora .During the visit, the DC and Director Local Bodies held a threadbare discussion with the concerned authorities wherein they directed the officers to gear up the efforts and take preventive measures through massive sanitation of the different areas, fumigation of the important public places including the hospitals, quarantine centers and adjacent habitations.They exhorted upon the sanitation workers to wear protective gears while performing their duties.The DC on the occasion was accompanied by Director Local Bodies Kashmir, Reyaz Ahmad Wani and President Municipal Council Basharat Ahmad besides other concerned officers and officials.
