The Punjab Institute of Medical Science (PIMS) on Thursday has begun the treatment of people infected with novel Coronavirus with 18-beds for level-2 and two beds for the level-3 patients. On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Mr Ghanshyam Thori, the PIMS has earmarked 110-beds for level-2 and 10-beds for level-3 patients which would ensure to combat the surge in number of COVID-19 patients far more efficaciously and provide best possible care to them.A team of civil and health department led by SDM-II Mr Rahul Sindhu was entrusted by Deputy Commissioner to ensure elaborate arrangements in the PIMS with coordination the concern authorities.Disclosing more details, Deputy Commissioner Mr Ghanshyam Thori said that in this situation when the entire globe was fighting with pandemic the PIMS has to play a major role.He said that being a medical college, the hospital has a state of the art infrastructure which would assist the administration further tackling this pandemic effectively.Mr Thori said that need of the hour was to join hand for fighting Corona Virus through a multi-pronged approach.The Deputy Commissioner further said that the services of the private hospitals have also been roped in for effectively tackling the Covid 19 which would initiate treatment facilities for the patients in the first week of August.Mr Thori said that there was no dearth of resources and manpower with the state government to tackle this pandemic.
