With Lockdown 4.0 begins in the state, the district police led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Narinder Bhargav on Monday, distributed pamphlets carrying four-point  self-awareness tips necessitated to be followed by people to prevent themselves from the Coronavirus or COVID-19 pandemic. The Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh led  Punjab government has lifted the day curfew while extended the lockdown till May 31, 2020. Divulging the details, SSP Dr Bhargav said keeping in mind that people will start  moving out of their houses resulting in crowds in the markets, the district police have initiated a mass awareness campaign for the public to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.  “Although, the State government has revoked the curfew to bring normality in the public lives but the latter now have to be very careful and should follow all the precautions like  responsible citizens as COVID-19 is still a challenge for us,” he said.He said that following the directions from the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Dinkar Gupta, an  aggressive and public awareness campaign has been started in Mansa.Dr Narinder Bhargav, while distributing pamphlets carrying four preventive measures including “Stay  Home, Stay Safe”,“If outside, 2 meters distance must”,“Wear Mask” and “Wash/Sanitize hands frequently”, said that to save ourselves from the COVID-19 pandemic these four  precautions should be paramount for everyone.

He said that showing their support with the Mansa Police Trader's Unions of Mansa including Grocery, Medical and other Associations decided to wear T-shirts carrying these  four slogans while on work aiming to make these slogans an integral part of the lifestyle of people.SSP said that these slogans have also been translated into the Mother Tongue  Punjabi language for the accessibility of the people.  He said that hard and soft copies of the pamphlet have been disseminated on a massive scale through VPO's, Social Media  platform of WhatsApp and the message is expected to have reached over 50,000 people in the District MansaMeanwhile, SSP Mansa also thanked the public at this stage for  rendering maximum co-operation to the Police administration during the curfew period. He said that it was not possible for the District Police to ensure the supply of essential  commodities and services to the needy persons, expeditious disbursement of pensions to the old age, widows, handicapped and orphans at their doorsteps, providing medical  and ambulance services to the needy patients, sending Birthday cakes to the children on their 1st Birthdays, providing required help to the farmers regarding the sale of their  vegetable crops and wheat procurement sans the public support. He said that by deploying Police VPOs in the villages and wards throughout the district has also resulted in  prevention of burning wheat straw in the district.
