Senior Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh Lieutenant General (Retd) TS Shergill today exhorted the Guardians of Governance (GoGs) to ensure all the medical protocols that mandates social distancing, hand washing, wearing masks being followed by farmers and labourers to prevent fatal Covid-19.Presiding over a meeting with the GoGs here at the district administrative complex, the Senior Advisor, accompanied by his Officer on Special Duty Karanveer Singh, said that this pandemic was posing a major danger to human life.Lieutenant General (Retd.) Shergill also said that a war has already waged against Coronavirus by disseminating maximum information amongst the masses.He said that as the wheat has been started arriving in the grain markets and to save the farmers, labourers and others from Covid-19 pandemic, GOGs have been entrusted to ensure the strict compliance of the directives of the government in the grain markets during the entire procurement operations. He said that the vigil eyes of the GOGs have already been started giving good results as the procurement operations are going smoothly and hassle-free in the grain markets.  The Senior Advisor to Chief Minister also asked the GoGs have also been submitting accurate, unbiased and factual free report pertaining to the government schemes.

The Senior Advisor further said that GoGs were true patriots who had given the prime of their youth for the service of the country.He said that now it was the time for these brave hearts to assume a new role by spreading maximum awareness at grass root level against the flue without creating any panic.Lieutenant General (Retd.) Shergill said that the GOGs have already been creating awareness campaign at village level in a mission mode.He also appreciated the district administration for ensuring essential commodities to the people at their doorsteps.Describing GoGs as the eyes and ears of the state government, the Senior Advisor said that they were working for realizing the dream of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to make Punjab a front ranking state in the country.Lieutenant General said that the Chief Minister has bestowed a huge responsibility on shoulders of every ex-serviceman by initiating this unprecedented scheme and all of them should make concerted efforts to ensure its huge success.It is pertinent to mention here that Jalandhar was the 20th district where Lieutenant General (Retd) TS Shergill visited today.Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, SSP Mr Navjot Singh Mahal, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh, District Head of the GoGs Major General (Retd.) Balwinder Singh welcomed the Senior Advisor.On the occasion, Colonel (Retd.) Balbir Singh, Colonel (Retd.) Bachan Singh, Colonel (Retd.) Mr. Vijay Kumar and others were also present.
