Lt Gen T S Shergill, senior adviser to CM and Senior Vice Chairman of the Guardians of Governance (GoG), today visited Barnala to take stock of the situation in the area amid the curfew imposed in the wake of Covid-19. Presiding over a meeting with Barnala Deputy Commissioner Tej Partap Singh Phoolka and Barnala SSP Sandeep Goyal, Lt Gen Shergill said the GoG, who have been deployed at various places, would help the district administration in wheat procurement, relief measures and in maintaining social distancing.Flanked by OSD Karanveer Singh, Lt Gen Shergill said the Capt Amarinder Singh-led Punjab Government had taken lead in country by controlling the situation. He called upon the people of Barnala to help the administration in combating Covid by staying indoors. He also appreciated the preparedness of the Barnala administration to fight the pandemic.DC Phoolka spoke about various relief measures being taken by the administration for the common man. He also elaborated on the efforts of government servants, NGOs and GoGs who were working hard to ensure that the basic necessities reached people. SSP Goyal briefed on the security arrangements and other efforts being made by the Barnala police.Lt Gen Shergill further said that online portal of the GoG had been added with new feature to strengthen the feedback channel. "Now, our GoG from the grass-root level may directly send their report to us or to the office of the CM Punjab with just a click. It will make it possible for us to resolve issues faster," he said.Heads of the Barnala and Mansa GoGs Col Labh Singh and Rashmeel Singh, respectively, were also present.
