Minister of Water Resources, Housing and Urban Development Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria held a meeting with the administrative and police officials at the District Administrative Complex here today to review the arrangements made by the district administration to prevent the spread of corona virus. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Tej Pratap Singh Phoolka and SSP Mr. Sandeep Goyal were also present.Cabinet Minister directed all the officials to stand by the people for their requirements. Minister said that Punjab Government is providing free Ration to the needy people and also there will be no shortage of medical equipments to the medical staff. At the same time, he said that farmers were given the required exemption in curfew for wheat harvesting. After the wheat arrives to grain markets alternative arrangements are being made for the farmers so that farmers will not rush the market at same time. He also said that Punjab Government is committed to procure every single grain of wheat crop.

Civil Surgeon Dr. Gurinderbir Singh said that quarantine facilities have been arranged in 6 different places, besides the isolation facility at the rehabilitation centers Sohal Patti, Barnala and CHC Mahal Kalan. In addition, there is tie up with the private hospitals to make sure additional facilities. He said that persons coming from out of states are being regularly checked. PPE kits, N95 masks, triple layer masks and sanitizers are being provided to the health staff in sufficient quantities.District Food and Civil Supply Controller Atinder kaur said that 2000 packets of Ration are being sent on a daily basis to the families who are not under Smart Rashan Card Scheme.  Chief Agricultural Officer Baldev Singh said that the repair of combines has begun in the district and the harvest of wheat in the district will be strat from April 15 to 20.Cabinet Minister said that the farmers should be made aware that Punjab Government is committed to procure every single grain of wheat crop, so there is no need to worry.  On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Roohi Dug, SDM Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, SP (H) Dr. Gurdeep Singh were also present.
