Senior Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Lieutenant General (Retd.) TS Shergill today exhorted the Guardians of Governance (GoGs) to play a proactive role in making the people aware about the precautionary measures to be taken for prevention against the fatal Coronavirus. Chairing a meeting with the GoGs here at the district administrative complex, the Senior Advisor, accompanied by his Officer on Special Duty Mr. Karanveer Singh, said that this flu was posing a major danger to human life. He said that this needs to be checked, for which Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has already issued detailed instructions to the Health department. Lieutenant General (Retd.) Shergill said that it was high time that a war must be waged against Coronavirus by disseminating maximum information amongst the masses.The Senior Advisor further said that GoGs were true patriots who had given the prime of their youth for the service of the country. He said that now it was the time for these brave hearts to assume a new role by spreading maximum awareness at grass root level against the flue without creating any panic. Lieutenant General (Retd.) Shergill said that the awareness campaign must be launched at village level in a mission mode.

Describing GoGs as the eyes and ears of the state government, the Senior Advisor said that they were working for realizing the dream of Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to make Punjab a front ranking state in the country. He said that GoGs must work dedicatedly to realize the dream of Chief Minister without indulging in any sort of groupism. Lieutenant General said that more and more people should be involved in this process by the GoGs to make this drive a mass movement for effective implementation of government schemes.The Senior Advisor to Chief Minister also asked the GoGs to submit accurate, unbiased and factual free report pertaining to the government schemes. He said that Chief Minister was himself regularly monitoring this flagship scheme so the report presented by the GoGs must be up to the mark, so that appropriate and prompt action could be taken on it. Lieutenant General said that the Chief Minister has bestowed a huge responsibility on shoulders of every ex-servicemen by initiating this unprecedented scheme and all of them should make concerted efforts to ensure its huge success.Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr. Jai Inder Singh and Mr. Vineet Kumar welcomed the Senior Advisor.The District Head of the GoGs Major General (Retd.) Balwinder Singh welcomed the senior Advisor to the complex.On the occasion, Colonel (Retd.) Balbir Singh, Colonel (Retd.) Bachan Singh, Colonel (Retd.) Mr. Vijay Kumar and others were also present.
