The state unit of Bharatya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday termed the grenade blast at Hari Singh High Street (HSHS) on Monday as the “handiwork of Pakistan”. The party also stated that the mainstream political leaders have exploited the common people from last 70-years in Kashmir.The BJP’s state president, Ravinder Raina was talking to media persons on the sidelines of the felicitation function, organized for the recently elected Chairpersons of Block Development Council (BDC).On the occasion, Raina as per the wire service –Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the grenade incident at Hari Singh High Street on Monday that left a non-Kashmiri dead and 40 others injured, was the ‘handiwork of Pakistan’. BJP J&K president also accused the neighboring Pakistan for disturbing the peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir.He also criticized the mainstream political leaders for exploiting the common people from last 70- years in Kashmir. “These politicians have always exploited the common people for their vested interests, which was why J&K is lagging behind on developmental front,” Raina said.He further said that holding of BDC polls was taken for the welfare and development of rural and far flung areas in J&K. “The central sponsored schemes, which never reached remote areas, will now be availed for common masses,” he said, adding, BJP believes in peace and prosperity of all regions irrespective of creed, color and religion.“There are some people, who never wanted development of J&K, but only cheated people on the name of hollow slogans like Autonomy and Self Rule,” he said. Some parties used the slogans of Autonomy and Self Rule for their benefits and political gains, however, these slogans only led to bloodshed in J&K, he added.Meanwhile, BJP today felicitated the newly elected chairpersons at a function in Tagore Hall, Srinagar. These chairpersons emerged victorious in the recently held BDC polls.A huge gathering of over 500 BJP workers have assembled here, which included newly elected BDCs, Sarpanchs, Panchs and party functionaries.
