As part of the year-long celebrations of the 550th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Punjab Government would undertake an extensive plantation drive by planting 550 saplings in all the Colleges of Punjab. The drive has been launched today from Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh.This was said by S. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot, Minister for Forest, Wildlife and social welfare while addressing the students and staff at Aryans Campus. Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala, Prof. (Dr.) B.S Ghuman was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the function. Saplings of Anarmi, Duranta, Guava, Lemon, Jamun, Sitafal, Karonda, Kathal etc were planted across the College.Dharamsot appreciated the effort of the students, staff & Management of Aryans for supporting Punjab Government’s mission of Clean & Green Punjab. He said that not only planting of saplings but students should also bear the responsibility of raising them to the fully grown trees so they should not be destroyed due to lack of care leading to waste of time, plants and resources.  Prof B.S Ghuman urged to take active participation in tree plantation drive and to preserve the nature for the benefit of the future generation. He added that each one should look after the plants planted by him/her and also encourage others to plant one tree in their homes, villages and towns.Dr. Anshu Kataria while speaking on the occasion said that greenery and environmental protection is necessary for the survival of the mankind. He also mentioned about the existing environmental problems that we are facing today due to deforestation. He appealed the students to actively participate in tree plantation drives make Punjab clean, green and pollution free.O.S.D to minster Mr. Chamkaur Singh, Mr. Kaabil Singh, Forest Range Officer, Rajpura, Sh. Baljit Singh; Naib Tehsildar, Sh. Harnek Singh; Jagdeep Singh, etc. were also present.
