Governor Bandaru Dattatraya has emphasized on promoting more information technology along with qualitative education in universities. He said that apart from creating a good academic environment in the universities, courses linked with employment should be started.The Governor was presided over the meeting with the Vice-Chancellors at Raj Bhavan Shimla, today.The Governor while reviewing the progress of the Universities expressed his satisfaction over the achievements of the universities made through the presentations by the Vice Chancellors and said that he would visit every university soon. He added that the standard of education in Himachal Pradesh was very high and we were also moving forward in qualitative education. He said that the Vice-chancellors need to consider what incentives we could take for qualitative education. Apart from this, work should be done on how to enhance the quality of education by working in coordination with other universities, he added. He said that awareness programs against drugs abuse should be organized at university level which could positively impact students. He said that apart from the efforts being made by the government in this direction, we need to take appropriate steps to create a healthy educational environment at the university level.Bandaru Dattatraya directed that programs should be organized for lectures of eminent persons at the university level. He said that the tourism industry was the main source of income of the State, therefore, such courses which were based on tourism should be started so that the youth could get better employment opportunities. He said that technical education was also of great impact today, for which industrial training institutes should be further strengthened and the subjects taught here should be to the needs of the industries. 

He directed to prepare a report for more technical support and co-operation from the Central Government, which could be sent to the Central Government.The Governor expressed satisfaction over the increasing number of girls students at the university level. He said that Himachal was a spiritual land and moral values should be instilled in the students. He said that strict administration and discipline was very important for the university, which the Vice-Chancellors could implement effectively. He also emphasized on the convening of brainstorming sessions for better coordination between the teachers and the students. He said that education was his priority and we should work together for getting better perspectives. He also emphasized the need to work within the stipulated time.Earlier, Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University Shimla Prof. Sikander Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Agricultural University, Palampur Prof. Ashok Saryal, Vice-Chancellor, University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni Dr. Parvinder Kaushal, VC of the Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur S.P. Bansal and VC of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Cluster University, Mandia Prof. C.L. Chandan gave their a detailed presentation on the achievements and activities of the University.The Governor asked the Vice-Chancellor of Nauni University to develop modern extension methods to reach out to the farmers for providing information on the latest technologies. He suggested VC of Technical University to conduct more courses based on skill development so that the youth could get better employment opportunities as per the demand of the industrial sector. VC of Agricultural University Palampur Prof Ashok Saryal said that natural farming centre has been set up in the University last year which was first of it's kind in the country. He said that more than 40,000 farmers are being trained and provided services by university extension department annually.
