NABARD funding pivotal for upliftment of livestock sector: Dr Samoon

Principal Secretary Animal, Sheep and Fisheries Department, Dr Asghar Hassan Samoon, today said that NABARD funding will uplift livestock sector in a major way in Jammu and Kashmir.The Principal Secretary made these remarks during a meeting here held to review implementation of various schemes under livestock sector. The meeting was attended by Director Sheep Husbandry Kashmir Dr Abdul Salam, DGM NABARD Qamar Javed, and representatives of Planning and other concerned Departments.Director Animal Husbandry Jammu Dr Tahir Beg, Director Sheep Husbandry Jammu Dr Sanjeev Kumar, other officers of the Department participated in the meeting via video conferencing.During the meeting, the officers presented an overview of the projects being funded under NABARD in various areas of J&K.The meeting also held threadbare discussion on execution plan of some major projects funded under NABARD including construction of multipurpose sheep facility center Rafiabad, upgradation of laboratory in Nowshera, construction of Sheep Extension Center Drass, construction and upgradation of Nowshera Training School, Kaimoh Veterinary Hospital and other projects.The Principal Secretary directed the officers to submit quarterly Utilization certificates of the works of projects being undertaken by the Department.He also asked the officers to seek optimal benefit from the NABARD funding so that a new dawn of infrastructure development is ensured in the Department.
