Senior Congress leader and party’s candidate from Anandpur Sahab parliamentary constituency Manish Tewari today said that in case Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister once again, it will be end of democracy in India. “Modi is synonymous with dictatorship”, he remarked while talking to reporters after an impressive roadshow and workers meeting, organized by the local MLA and Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Rana KP Singh, here today.Replying to a question, Tewari said, “there was already an undeclared emergency in the country for the last five years and god forbid if Modi becomes the PM again there will be total dictatorship and no democracy”.The Congress leader took a jibe at the Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal, saying, of the ten candidates who had contested on Akali ticket in 2014, eight had already deserted the party or declined to contest. “The remaining two, Prem Singh Chandumajra and Harsimrat Kaur Badal will be chased out by the people of Anandpur Sahab and Bathinda respectively”, he remarked, while adding, retaining their security deposits will be the greatest achievement for the Akalis. To a question about the alleged rebellion in the party, the national spokesperson of the Congress said, the entire rank and file of the party was together and he had been receiving unprecedented and overwhelming support from all sections of the party right since the day his candidature was announced by the party.
“I have taken out a few roadshows and addressed a few public meetings so far and there was unprecedented participation of people”, he said, while pointing out, such love and support is obvious that people want to vote for the Congress party. He thanked all the leaders and workers of the constituency for giving their best in this campaign. “All my party colleagues including the ministers, legislators, leaders and workers have made me feel as if it is their own election”, he claimed, while adding, it is actually the election of each and every worker of the party in the parliamentary segment. On the issue of developmental roadmap for the Anandpur Sahab constituency, he said, “after filing my nomination papers on April 29, we will bring out the constituency specific manifesto that will spell out the specific development agenda, which will be doable and achievable as I don’t believe in making false promises or impracticable commitments”.Tewari had a special word of gratitude for Rana KP Singh, for organizing a great roadshow and workers meeting today.
