Cyber investigations initiated by the Mansa police in collaboration with Bathinda Range Cyber Cell today proved instrumental in the arrest of a minor boy who prepared fake Facebook and Instagram accounts of Deputy Commissioner of Mansa.Addressing a press conference SSP Mansa Mandhir Singh said that the accused is a minor boy of around 17 and half years old residing in Baretta town of Mansa.“We took the complaint very seriously as the accused had started sending the friend requests from the fake account to all and sundry. We immediately coordinated with the Range Cyber Cell of Bathinda to procure every detail pertaining to the fake Facebook and Instagram accounts,” SSP Mandhir said.He pointed out that the investigation part of identifying the mobile phone/computer—from which the fake account was operated—was handled by the Range Cyber Cell in Bathinda.He said that the investigations in this case are still going on and possibility of more arrests cannot be ruled out at this point.Divulging further details, DSP Simranjeet Singh Lang said that it took some time to identify the person who prepared fake accounts.Sub Inspector-Ramandeep Singh from Cyber Cell Bathinda said, “We approached the Facebook through e-mails and informed them about the use of fake accounts of the IAS officer and they cooperated in providing all the details which resulted in the arrest of the accused within a fortnight,”Ramandeep said.He further said that the accused was operating the accounts using the cell phone which was registered in the name of boy’s father. Police officials said that a case under 417,419,420 of the IPC and 66-D and 66-C of the Information Technology Act in this regard against the accused boy and further investigation is on. 

DC Mansa expresses satisfaction over cyber investigation:

Expressing satisfaction over the investigations done by the Cyber Cell and arrest of the minor boy, Mansa DC Apneet Riyait said that this case is still under investigation. SSP Mandhir Singh says that the actual perpetrators or the mastermind who got these fake IDs prepared are yet to be arrested. DC Mansa also urged the youth to tread very cautiously while surfing the net and especially using the Facebook, instagram, e-mails and WhatsApp.
