Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development, Punjab, organised the monthly ‘Block Level Milching Competitions’ to identify the high quality genetical livestock with the purpose of enhancing milk production in the state.Giving details here today, the Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development, Punjab Balbir Singh Sidhu stated that the progressive livestock farmers of the state enthusiastically participated in the block level milk competitions. He said that in the competition of H.F. Cow’s breed, Mr. Harpreet Singh from village Noorpur Hakima of Moga district won by producing 68.14 KG milk in December, 2018. He said that H.F. cow of Mr. Ram Rattan of Dubhali village of Balachaur, Nawashahar district won by producing 54.60 KG milk in November, 2018 in block level milching competitions.He said that the in the competitions of Murrah breed, buffalo of Mr. Harwinderjit Singh from Jalandhar district won by producing 25.04 KG milk in December and Mr. Nahar Singh’s buffalo from village Lehra of Ludhiana district won the competition by producing 24.33 KG milk in November. 

Similarly, in the block level competitions of Nili Ravi Breed, buffalo of Mr. Joga Singh from village Birdano of Patiala district won by producing 21.66 kg milk in December and buffalo of Mr. Rasaal Singh of village Valtoha from Tarn Taran won the competition by producing 21 KG milk. Underscoring the speciality of indigenous cow breed Sahiwal, Animal Husbandry Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said that now dairy farmers of Punjab has showed keen interest in Sahiwal cow while state Government is establishing the modern farms to keep the indigenous breeds under Gaukal Mission. He said that by producing 19.37 kg milk, Sahiwal cow of Swami Chinmiya Anand from Noor Mehal won in December in State. The Sahiwal cow of Mr. Punjab Singh from village Jastarwal of Amritsar district won the block level competitions of State by producing 20.16 milk in November, 2018.He further said that in the competitions of Jersey Cow, by producing 37.25 kg milk, cow of Mr. Amandeep Singh won in December. He said that cow of Ms. Sukhminder Kaur from village Kotda Armu of Sunam block of Sangrur district had won by producing 30.43 KG of milk in the state.Giving details about the goat competitions, he said Goat of Mr. Mithu Kha from village Dhanula of Barnala district won by producing 4.33 KG milk in November, 2018 and goat of Mr. Manvir Singh from village Birdano of Patiala district won by producing 5.05 kg milk in December.
