Director General of Police J&K Shri Dilbag Singh, IPS visited Katra and took stock of the security measures in view of Navratra festival which attracts huge rush of pilgrims at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine.The Director General of Police was accompanied by ADGP CRPF, Shri V.S.K. Kaumudi, IPS. The security review meeting was attended by SSP Reasi Ms. Nisha Nathyal, Addl. SP Katra Shri Naresh Singh, CO CRPF 6th Bn. Katra Shri Jitendra Kumar Gupta, Asstt. Commandant CRPF 6th Bn. Shri Uttam Kumar, SDM Bhawan Shri Naresh Kumar and other senior officers of Shrine Board.During the visit DGP assessed the vulnerabilities of different police points besides reviewed their functioning. He gave onspot directions on certain important issues relating to the security of the newly inaugurated Tarakote track at Katra.
DGP also reviewed functioning of CCTV cameras installed at Katra enroute Bhawan. He stressed upon coordination among various security forces involved in the security of Bhawan and Katra town. He also emphasized that while ensuring security of the shrine, officials should be highly courteous to the pilgrims visiting the shrine.DGP also had a brief review of security preparedness viz-a-viz forthcoming Panchayat elections wherein all aspects related to conduct of Panchayat elections in the district were discussed. He also emphasized upon the welfare of jawans and directed that grievances of jawans should be immediately redressed and also directed that officers should visit families of martyrs residing in the district and take care of them as they are integral part of the police pariwar.DGP also issued necessary directions to the District Police Officers and sought cooperation from the civil society in eradicating the menace of begging from the town.
