Punjab Excise And Taxation Staff Hand Over Day’s Salary To Capt Amarinder For Flood-Hit Kerala

In response to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s appeal, officers and inspectors of the Excise and Taxation Department have contributed a day’s salary for the flood-hit Kerala state.A delegation of the department, led by Additional Chief Secretary M.P Singh, handed over a cheque of Rs.10,93,709 to the Chief Minister today, according to an official spokesperson.Appreciating the gesture, the Chief Minister said that Punjab was among the first states to extend help to the people of Kerala and had dispatched four plane loads of 150 MT each of relief material, apart from other contributions. It was the duty of all Punjabis to come forward to do their bit to help the beleaguered state cope with the unprecedented calamity, he added.Tejveer Singh, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, and V.P Singh, Excise and Taxation Commissioner, were also present on the occasion.
