Mansa police is fully prepared to stop the distribution or smuggling of illicit drug especially liquor during the upcoming Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti Elections.Stating this in a press release issued today, Mansa SSP Mandhir Singh said that the one more person has been arrested by the CIA (Crime Investigating Agency) with 20 boxes of illicit liquor. The accused has been identified as Kamaljeet Singh of Khuddi Kalan village in adjoining district Barnala. He is arrested from near Alampur Mandran village on Monday.The SSP said that liquor is used to allure people during the elections which is an illegal act and it will not be allowed in Mansa. He added that the security on the areas of district touching neighboring Haryana too has been strengthened. Punjab Government has also taken stringent steps, under the ongoing Mission Tandarust Punjab, to completely eradicate the menace of drugs from Punjab, he further said.Sharing more details about the arrest, CIA Incharge Angrez Singh said that the arrested accused was smuggling the liquor in an Opel Corsa Car from near Alampur Mandran village.Investigating Officer in case, Harbhajan Singh said that the illicit liquor recovered from the possession of the accused is of Haryana made-Malta. The accused was produced in court after which he has been sent into judicial remand.
