Medical Checkup Camp Organised By District Legal Services Authority At Women Jail

203 Women Undertrials & Inmates Checked During Medical Camp Held Today

For ensuring that the inmates and undertrials at Women Jail, here, stay in the best of health, a medical checkup camp was organised by District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ludhiana in the premises of women jail, here today. During the camp, 209 women inmates and undertrials along with 9 children were checked. Mr Gurbir Singh, District & Sessions Judge cum Chairman, DLSA, Ludhiana also visited the camp today.While providing information, Mr Gurbir Singh informed that in today’s medical checkup camp, the doctors of gynae, dentistry, general medicine, surgery, medicine, eyes, skin and other diseases participated. He said that due to the ongoing monsoon season, the women inmates and undertrials were suffering from some diseases and that is why, today’s medical checkup camp was organised by the DLSA Ludhiana.He informed that efforts would be made to ensure that all women inmates and undertrials, who are found suffering from diseases, get proper medical treatment. He said that all these patients would be sent for further treatment to Civil Hospital and if required, they would be treated at private hospitals as well.Mr Gurbir Singh also directed the officials of health department to appoint women counsellors in the premises of women jail. He also directed that a psychiatrist should be appointed so that she visits the jail premises either weekly or once every 15 days. He also interacted with the inmates and undertrials and inquired about any problems being faced by them. He later assured that all their problems would be duly redressed. He also directed the jail staff to ensure that all basic facilities are provided to the inmates and undertrials.Prominent among those present on the occasion included Mr Vikrant Kumar, Judge Senior Division, Dr Gurpreet Kaur, Secretary, DLSA Ludhiana cum Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jail Superintendent Mrs Damanjit Kaur, Central Jail Superintendent Mr SS Boparai, Dr RK Sharma, besides several others.
