Exhorting the students to come forward and join hands in making Punjab the healthiest state, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM)-II Mr Paramvir Singh on Saturday said that the youths can play a significant role in wiping out the drug menace from the state. Flagging off a cycle awareness rally organized by district administration under Mission Tandarust Punjab in Devi Sahai SD Senior Secondary School in Basti Nau, Paramvir Singh said that the youths are the strength of our nation and a great responsibility lies on their shoulders of building a country or state free from social evils like drug menace. Mr Singh who arrived in school on cycle and led from the front in the rally said that school children need to be involved in a big way for spreading the message at the grass root level of Tandarust Punjab mission so that this awareness campaign can become a mass social movement. SDM also asked the students to take a pledge that they would never touch the drugs for carving out a healthy and progressive Punjab. He claimed that Punjab government was committed for ensuring holistic development of the children and future generations by eliminating the drugs completely. He also motivated the students to do physical exercise and take part in games regularly for a healthy living.He also congratulated faculty members of the school for their efforts in organizing such cycle rally. On the occasion District Guidance Counselor Mr Surjit Lal, Principal of School Mr Raj Kumar Sharma and others were present. The rally began from school and crossed from Football Chowk to BMC Chowk, Company Bagh Chowk to the school concluding point.
