Minister for School Education, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today visited Sainik School Manasbal and inspected various sections of the schools besides interacting with students and staff.The Minister was all praise for the school for being one of the few educational institutes in Kashmir that remains functional irrespective of the situation outside. He said that the school has carved a niche for itself in academic quality which needs to be further augmented.The Minister during interaction with students said that it is the first time he is having such a meeting with students after becoming the education minister and it is a privilege to be here on this occasion. He told the students how lucky they are to have got admission in this prestigious and a beautifully located school. He said that around 69 students from Kashmir and Ladakh have been selected this year out of total number of 900 applicants, which shows rigorous selection process and huge demand for this school.He said that parents have high hopes for children and they should work hard to realize those dreams. He said that students need to live upto expectations of parents and the society. He urged the students to avail the opportunity and facilities provided by the school for best of their use.

The Minister was informed that 57 students qualified the recent CBSE examination out of total 59 students. He said that the school of such a caliber should aim for 100 percent pass result.The Minister assured the school management that government will provide all possible help to maintain and further upgrade the status of this scenic school. He said that the students exchange programs will also be formulated wherein the students of the state will have opportunity to visit and experience the places outside the state as well as country.The Minister was informed that around 430 students are currently on rolls at the school which is spread over an area of 550 Kanals. The school has six smart classes, separate labs for different subjects, computer lab, computer museum, an art studio and an open-air theatre. The school with faculty of 100 members also has a 16-bed hospital to take of health needs of students. The school has six hostels with capacity of 60 students each.The Minister was accompanied by Secretary School Education Farooq Shah, Secretary Tribal Affairs Salma Hamid, DSEK G N Itoo, ADDC GBl, CEO Gbl and other officials.
