Universal Group of Institutions organized week long activities at its campus to celebrate International Day for Biological Diversity to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. The theme of this celebration is Biodiversity and Sustainable Tourism. While speaking at the moment Chairman, Universal Group, Dr. Gurpreet Singh said that biological diversity or biodiversity is often understood in terms of the wide variety of plants, animals and microorganisms. The biodiversity of the present time is the fruit of billions of years of evolution, shaped by natural processes and, increasingly, by the influence of humans. It forms the web of life of which both animal and plants are an integral part and upon which all are fully depended.He further informed celebration of Biological Diversity day under this theme provides an opportunity to raise awareness and action towards the important contribution of sustainable tourism both to economic growth and to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. He urged students to work for its conservation and to ensure a new and sustainable relationship between humanity and the natural world for the generations to come. At the moment various seminar, Chart making competition, acts and speeches were also organized which shows biodiversity is the foundation for life and for the essential services provided by ecosystems.
