Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today visited Satwari, Nai Basti, Digana, Gangyal, Channi Himmat, Deeli, Uttam Nagar, Dashmesh Nagar, Saink Colony, Sanjay Nagar, Nanak Nagar, Trikuta Nagar and adjoining localities to review the plan and progress in blacktopping works being undertaken by PWD (R&B) department.The Speaker was informed that blacktopping and macadamization in first phase amounting to Rs. 25 crore would start soon and that the department has already started the preparatory works in this regard.While addressing the gathering, the Speaker said that government has initiated several measures to upgrade existing road infrastructure with special focus on rural and far-off pockets. He asked the executing agencies to speed up the pace of works so that the same are completed in a time bound manner. He cautioned the officers that any laxity in this regard would not be tolerated and stern action would be initiated against non performers.Executive Engineer PWD, Junior Engineer besides other concerned officers also accompanied the Speaker.
