Terming the people’s rejection of so-called parliamentary polls as “referendum” against India, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Tuesday said the election boycott was a slap on the face of New Delhi and its puppets. In a statement issued to KNS, Shah said the administration and other pro-India elements couldn’t bring even 2 percent of people to polling booths and couldn’t register win despite using bogus voters.“The people of Jammu Kashmir by rejecting the sham polls have sent a clear message to world that they won’t accept anything less than freedom,” Shah said, adding that the pro-India elements have been given a befitting reply by people.Hailing people for their pro-freedom spirit, Shah said the election boycott proved it that the ‘2016 uprising’ was not any ordinary protest but a significant chapter of our freedom movement.Terming the government’s decision of deferring the so-called elections as the acknowledgement of its defeat, the DFP chairman said those who used to make “5 percent” remarks have suffered a big blow.

“The so-called government may have army and police on its side but not people who have out-rightly rejected them,” Shah said.Suggesting the pro-India politicians to apologise to people, Shah said they have only two options left – to join the ranks of people’s movement or openly declare that they are power hungry and blood-thirsty.Shah said if India claims J&K as its integral part even after suffering such a big defeat, the people of the state would teach the same befitting lesson to it too. “New Delhi needs to realise that it couldn’t succeed in legalising its illegal occupation of J&K for the last 70 years. It should read writing on the wall and resolve the issue in an honourable way lest it sees a shameful defeat,” he said.Shah urged the world bodies including the UN, EU, and OIC to consider the election boycott as referendum against India and asked these organisations not to further delay the resolution of this longstanding dispute. “We want Kashmir resolved on the lines of East Timur, South Sudan, Croatia, and Scotland.”The pro-freedom leader while slamming the government and other pro-India parties said despite caging the entire resistance camp, people still acknowledge their representation. “This should be an eye-opener for them and their masters in Delhi. It would be better for the pro-India elements to join the people’s movement,” he said. (KNS)
