Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology Choudhary Lal Singh today urged youth to be the “change makers” for bringing prosperity into Jammu and Kashmir.Speaking at a large gathering of students from Government Degree College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu at Environment Park, Raikta, here, the Minister said that sound human resource plays a vital role in State’s economy and prosperity. “Sound mind lives in a sound body should be strictly followed by all the young students,” Singh said. “Youth is a biggest strength to turn the tide of this state. Students besides focus on education should also focus on environmental and ecological issues it is because of this force our state can witness massive progress on all the levels,” he said.He also urged students not be technology dependent and look for the options and avenues for exploring the natural resources of the State.“Students should also make best use of technology for the great results,” he said.

The Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing in collaboration with Government Degree Collage for Woman, Ghandi Nagar, Jammu, organized Paryavaran Excursion. The students on the trip explored various environmental sites, parks and zoos including Deer Park Manda, Jammu.The Minister said that the Department would continue to organize such kind of expeditions, excursions and research trips for the better understanding of the students. This he said would not only be organized their regions or State but the Department would take it to the national level also. The students listened to the Minister with rapt attention. He said that if such meetings and gatherings with youth are made a continuous process it is bound to make them more aware of the importance of preserving the environment.The event ended on a very positive note with the minister receiving a loud applause from the students.   The Minister said asked the students that development is imperative and is related at improving the welfare of a society through appropriate social, political and economic conditions.  The minister later told students they must also explore the wildlife areas for having a clear and deep understating about the cycle of environment.Later the Minister also took review of the Forest Guest Houses and other assets of the Department at Sidra.
